I’m not totally sure what I was thinking here. First attempt at a bag with no pattern that wasn’t just a pouch. I had some 1000D and 500D Cordura from Discount Fabrics, the best fabric-store-in-a-former-ketchup-factory around, that I picked up specifically to experiment with.

The end result was a weird, sort of lopsided fanny pack. It’s ok. The big takeaway was that boxed corners need 90 degree angles. Without those, it’s not going to look right.

Finished.

The construction is straightforward: a front and back panel of equal dimensions and a band that connects them. This is the front panel with a zippered pocket.

A strap. This is made inside-out, then reversed and topstitched. First time doing this and pleased with the outcome.

Forgot to photograph the band construction, but it's just two rectangles with the ends sewn together plus a zipper opening. This is the back panel clipped to the band before sewing.

Band sewn to back panel. You can start to see the lopsided-ness here because I was not precise enough with the measurements I took nor the alignment of pieces. Essentially wound up bunching up certain parts to give me slack in other areas.

Front panel attached. Same as before, things did not line up properly and made it near impossible to create even sides or corners.
